Lauren Meader is a fantastic designer in the US who creates (amongst other things) the most fabulous box templates for Papertrey Ink. This week she is hosting a challenge to create a box to hold candy using one of her templates.
So I’ve created a Treasure Chest using her Timeless Template ‘LetsDoLunch’ I’ve been waiting for chocolate coins to come back into the stores so that I could make this. Now Christmas is on the way – and with Lauren’s current challenge I thought this would be the perfect time. Unfortunately, it hasn’t come out quite as well as I would have liked! Unfortunately, I ran out of gold brads and time to get it how I really wanted it. When I have more of both, I’ll think I’ll give it another go. Here’s what I’ve got so far though:
Here’s how I created the wood effect for the box. I used a piece of SU! Close to Cocoa card, and swished across it with a baby wipe covered in Chocolate chip ink. Then I took the edge of my long ruler, and inked that up with Chocolate Chip ink too, and use it to ‘stamp’ lines on the card. Not a bad effect IMO! Then I made the box up according the instructions. I used 1/2″ strips of Chocolate Chip card for the strapping, with gold brads inserted every 2 cm, then just stuck it on with Sticky Strip. Filled it up with chocolate coins and bingo!
Hope you like. I won’t be back tomorrow as I have my Launch Party for the new Stampin’ Up! catalogue, but I’ll be back on Sunday with news and photos from how it went. Oh, and it got pointed out several times yesterday that it is only 12 weeks until Christmas, so I’ll be back with some news about that too.
